In college, its hard to cook food that doesn't have "frozen dinner" written on its side. You also don't have a lot of money to spend on eating out all the time, so what's one to do? Well, here are a few of my favorite college meals - they're pretty cheap and taste better than that toxic waste the school cafeteria serves.

Quick and Easy Pizza

IngredientsDirections
  • Bread (a slice for each pizza slice)
  • Pasta Sauce (I prefer the chunky style with bell peppers and mushrooms)
  • Cheese (Kraft singles work great)
  • Pepperoni (I use unsliced because its cheaper)
  1. Spoon some pasta sauce onto the bread.
  2. Tear cheese single into pieces and sprinkle it onto the pasta sauce and bread.
  3. Slice the pepperoni into about 1/8th inch slices. Place slices on top of the cheese.
  4. Place the soon-to-be pizza slices on the rack in a toster oven and bake till the cheese melts and the edges of the bread are toasted.
  5. Remove the pizza from the oven and enjoy.
Approximate Cost: $0.25/slice Approximate Cooking Time: 5-10 minutes

Sausage and Veggie Ramen

IngredientsDirections
  • Sausage (precooked is easiest, best if it matches the ramen flavor:
    ex. pork w/ pork ramen)
  • 1 pkg Ramen Noodle Soup (I like to get "top ramen", because it sounds high class)
  • 1/2 can(15oz) VegAll (the veggie part!)
  • Seasonings - salt, pepper, whatever you like! (I like a bit of Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning)
  1. Prepare Ramen Noodle Soup according to directions on bag.
  2. Slice as much sausage as you want and stir into soup.
  3. Stir in the VegAll.
  4. Season to taste with salt, pepper, etc.
  5. Mircowave for 30sec to 1 min to simmer the flavors together.
(Optional) Drain and place on a plate.
  6. Enjoy.
